A group of visitors from OMMI, the Hungarian Institute for quality control of agricultural and ornamental plants, recently toured BG-Map and BG-BASE user institutions in the U.S. The purpose of the visit was to study plant records and mapping practices for possible application to gardens in Hungary.

Institutions visited included The Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, Ohio, Montgomery Botanical Center in Miami, Florida, The U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, DC, The Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and the University of Delaware Botanic Gardens in Newark, Delaware.
At each institution, garden staff demonstrated procedures for field mapping and database mangement. Several of the demonstrations were videotaped by the visitors so that others in Hungary can view the demonstrations as well.
