How to Transfer GreVid^TM or PropNoter^TM Data to a Windows Mobile Device

This document describes how to export and transfer BG-Map and BG-BASE data to a Windows Mobile device for use by GreVid or PropNoter.

Note: PropNoter requires BG-Map 2008a or later or the GreVid and Garden Notepad Standalone Version with the optional PropNoter Module.

Step 1 - Export Data

IF USING BG-MAP:

Go to the Utilities Menu, and click “GreVid and PropNoter Export.”

Exporting the Data:

Under either “GreVid” or “PropNoter”, click “Export Data.” Data for all living plants or propagations will be exported.

Copying The Data To The Mobile Device:

Connect the mobile device using Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Vista. If using ActiveSync, make certain that the ActiveSync icon in the Windows taskbar is being displayed as a stationary green circle. Then, click "Copy Data". The data that was exported in the previous step will be copied to the mobile device. You may repeat this step to copy the same data to additional mobile devices.

IF USING “GREVID AND GARDEN NOTEPAD STAND-ALONE VERSION”:

Exporting The Data:

Under either “GreVid” or “PropNoter”, click "Export Database". Data for all living plants will be exported.

Copying The Data To The Mobile Device:

Connect the mobile device using Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Vista. If using ActiveSync, make certain that the ActiveSync icon in the Windows taskbar is being displayed as a stationary green circle. Then, click "Copy Data". The data that was exported in the previous step will be copied to the mobile device. You may repeat this step to copy the same data to additional mobile devices.

Step 2 - Update the Database on the Mobile Device

Start GreVid or PropNoter on the mobile device. Click the "SOS" button", and then click "Update Database". The mobile device will be updated with the exported data.

Note: The mobile device does not have to be connected to your computer during step 2.
