AutoCAD
2009 Menu Issues
Updated

This
document reviews issues pertaining to running BG-Map with AutoCAD 2009.
The Menu Browser and the “Classic” Menu
AutoCAD
2009 uses a new interface called a menu browser, which replaces the menu items
that previously appeared across the top of the screen. To access the menu browser, click the red “A”
at the top left corner of the screen.
The
menu browser offer advantages compared with the “classic menu” because it makes
more screen space available for displaying the map. It also provides a search function. For example, you could search for the word
“move” to find the command for moving text.
The disadvantage of the menu browser is that it requires an extra click
to access a menu item.
If
you’d like to display the “classic” menu, type this command:
MENUBAR 1
To
hide the “classic” menu, type:
MENUBAR 0
Displaying the AutoCAD Toolbars
The
BG-Map file menu in AutoCAD has a function, “Display AutoCAD Toolbars”, which
displays additional AutoCAD toolbars in addition to the normal BG-Map
toolbars. If this function does not work
with AutoCAD 2009, place a copy of the file acad.cui
in the C:\Bgmapwin folder. You can find
this file in the AutoCAD support folder, which is normally located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\(your
name)\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2009\R17.2\enu\support
Copy
the file acad.cui from this folder to the C:\Bgmapwin
folder and restart BG-Map. The “Display
AutoCAD Toolbars” function should now work.
To hide the AutoCAD toolbars, select “Remove AutoCAD Toolbars from the
File menu.
The Ribbon
AutoCAD
2009 provides another new user interface called the ribbon, which appears at
the top of the screen. The ribbon is not
used with BG-Map, but may be used when running AutoCAD outside of BG-Map.
To
display the ribbon, enter this command:
RIBBON
To
hide the ribbon, enter this command:
RIBBONCLOSE
To
customize the ribbon (when not running BG-Map), enter this command:
CUI
